Howdy!
It is the first Friday of the Month! WooHoo! That means it is time to hop with the lovely ladies of the Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop! Are you ready for some amazing inspiration? I am!
You may be wondering what Step It Up means. I had to read the description to know…it means taking a card from #simplestamping to adding more detail or layers or bling and then taking it even further if one wanted to. Connie Stewart calls this Now, Wow, and Holy Cow cards…I am still thinking about what I want to call it…for now, we’ll go with this:
I stamped off the cupcake paper to make the Blueberry Bushel less intense and used the ink full strength on the sentiment. The icing, chocolate cake, and inside sentiment are full strength ink.
-
-
Step 1 – Keeping it simple.
-
-
The inside…
My #simplestamping + embellishments card – same stamp sets, same ink colors, and adding the In Colors DSP in Blueberry Bushel for the side of the card where I trimmed off 1/4 inch. I also used the DSP for behind the sentiment. I used the new Story Label Punch (New today) and cut it in half lengthwise to make it fit top and bottom behind the white and changed the sentiment to Berry Burst so that the blue wasn’t over powering. I also added a few rhinestones. I again stamped off the Blueberry Bushel for the cupcake paper and also this time for the icing. That way I could use the Berry Burst at full strength for the sprinkles! I like the pop of color on the inside by cutting off that 1/4 inch from the side of the card! Will need to remember that for future cards!
-
-
Step 2 – add some embellishments
-
-
Inside…
My #simplestamping + embellishments + layers card – Same ink, stamp sets, punch, rhinestones, and DSP. However, now I have added more layers and used the brand new Call Me Cupcake Framelits that were made for this fun stamp set! I also used Wink of Stella glitter brush on the icing to give it that yummy shimmer and make the card really fun! I stamped the icing onto plain Berry Burst cardstock and then ran it through the Big Shot with the framelit. I did the same with the cupcake paper using the DSP. I ran the cake part using Early Espresso cardstock and then used the Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the layers of the cupcake. I used Dimensionals on the sentiment and the icing. I also added a layer of Early Espresso behind another layer of Whisper White cardstock. It makes the card a bit front heavy and in the future I will use the regular Whisper White cardstock for the layers instead of the thick. I was actually covering up a booboo and I like this better.

What do you think? I think I could have kept ‘Steppin’ It Up’ by heat embossing the sentiment and icing. Or maybe using an embossing folder for the white back ground. That’s the thing…you go as simple or as fancy as you want! It’s all about enjoying the creativity and exploring your options while playing with all your fun stamps, paper, and inks! So go give it a whirl! If you need any of these supplies, see your Demonstrator or, if you don’t have one yet, I would love to have a chance to serve you as your Demonstrator. Just click on the blue underlined words and it’ll take you right to my store, or comment below and I will be happy to reach out to you!
For now, though, I think I will call it good and move on to making the other ideas in my head a reality! Thank you for reading and taking this crafting journey with me! It’s nice to have you along! If you have been thinking about signing up for the awesome Paper Pumpkin monthly kit, NOW is the time! Next month is Paper Pumpkin’s Birthday and they always do something extra special for their birthday! This year it is a second stamp set in each kit! I love that it’s a surprise as to what theme I get in my box each month, and yet it is nice to have little hints like they did last month. This time they are telling us this to get us excited:
- The March kit features eight full-sized, mailable cards
- Coordinating colors are Basic Black, Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo, and Poppy Parade
- This kit has an element that is sure to “pop”!
- The FREE stamp set is even bigger and better than your typical Paper Pumpkin stamp set and can be used on a variety of crafting projects.
I’m thinking the “pop” may mean a pop up card. What do you think? I’m excited, are you?!?!
