Tricky card = Cool Card!

Howdy!

Yep, that is what I usually use in person vs. the “Hello, Hello” I have been using…so I’m going to use it here! It’s me…from AZ! (that’s where I grew up)

I started this tricky card with this sketch from CAS(E)this Sketch:

Then I looked over at Fab Friday and saw this awesome color challenge:

When I saw that cool sketch I thought strips of paper would be neat! Then, on the Fab Friday page I saw that Brian King had pieced paper strips in a circle with some of the colors and I thought a paper piecing strip would be good and easy. Not! The paper piecing was easy enough, it was figuring out how to get the strips onto the card without messing it all up that was tough. 🙂

Thank goodness for the Sizzix adhesive multipurpose sheets! Although, once I got the strips on there…how to transfer them became an issue. So, very carefully, I peeled off the backing and prayed they all stayed together while I flipped them over and put them on the card front. They did, shew!

And, viola! My card…

I used the Tranquil Tide ink for the “You are” and Highland Heather for “amazing” sentiment parts. They came from the Amazing Life stamp set. (and, no, I did not realize I used the same sentiment as Brian did until I was doing all the links…great minds and all that 🙂 ) The card front is backed on to Highland Heather cardstock. Since purple and green is my favorite color combination right now, I wanted to use it the most. Pear Pizzazz is the card front. Then Tranquil Tide, Mint Macaron, and Lemon Lime Twist fill in the other colors.

Here is the inside of the card:

Keeping it simple! The sentiment and flower also came from the Amazing Life stamp set. What do you think? Got any tips to make it easier? I’m all ears!

And so, after subbing all day and almost losing my voice because of this cold, it is time to hit the hay for this girl! G’nite!

Thank you for reading and taking this crafting journey with me! It’s nice to have you along! Enjoy your Stampin’, Scrappin’, and Craftin’ journey and feel free to share and CASE with me! I love to see what others create!

Blessings, June

  3. What a fantastic design! And to use up those little narrow strips makes it even better. I love the minimal stamping with the colors really showing up. Thanks for sharing at Fab Friday!
