Masculine SU! Birthday card

Hello! Happy Saturday night!

I trust your summer is going great! Ours is about to wind down! We have one more trip, a camping trip, that we are throwing in at the end of the summer. Not ideal, but with all the smoke from the fires, the friends that were going to come visit asked us to meet them in Yellowstone instead…so off we go next weekend. Getting home 2 days before school starts is going to be interesting! This next week will be chocked full of prep for school and trip! WooHoo!

In the meantime…I am alone! Ahh, that is a wonderful thing and hasn’t happened as often as I thought it would this summer. Having to “fight” for the computer with my son (yes, I am the parent) has been an ongoing thing this summer. It hasn’t really been a fight as much as him asking if he can play Fortnite (groan!) on the desktop when I was going to do some blogging…I gave in sometimes, not always and yet when I was on the computer I got distracted by catching up on my facebook page and posting and reading other’s and emails and then I didn’t get to blog. TODAY, I am blogging! And then getting back to creating because I have 8 hours to myself! WooHoo! I am 3 hours into it and have gotten all caught up with emails and fb (https://www.facebook.com/JunebugCreations29/) posts and still have 5 hours, or more of my time for blogging and crafting! YAY! Let’s see how much I can get done!

This is a post that should have been done last month and kept getting put off. It was a challenge and I forgot about the deadline and didn’t get it entered. I still want to share it though, because I really like how the card turned out!

It was for the CAS(E) this Sketch  challenge blog, which stands for ‘Clean And Simple,’ which is refreshing to do when so many others pile tons of stuff on their cards. How do they send them like that? Sometimes I just need to go simple again and hit my refresh button.

Here is the sketch:

And here is my card:

I used the Wood Textures 6×6 DSP for a balloon and for the word Birthday. The Birthday was from the Happy Birthday Thinlits and I just cut the happy off and used a happy from one of my Paper Pumpkin (PP) kits. I was going to use the letters from the Make a Difference stamp set, but they didn’t have a double p. They have double b, e, f, g, l, s, t, but no p. So, I dug in my stamp case of PP sets. It made me think that maybe I needed to invest in the Labeler Alphabet or maybe the Pick A Pennant (which has 2 P’s) stamp sets. Then I wouldn’t have to go to PP sets. Although, then I get more usage from my PP sets and that is not such a bad thing, right?! I just needed something small and the majority of my alphabet stamp sets are all large, even the retired stuff, because I bought them with scrapbooking in mind.

The card base is Very Vanilla and is cut at 8.5 x 5.5 inches and scored at 4.25 inches. A standard A2 card. The Crumb Cake is used for the background and is cut at 4 x 5.25 inches and distressed with Soft Suede ink. I used a dauber to do that part. I love doing the distressing on some of these cards. Especially with lighter colors. It just gives it a finished framed look in my opinion. What do you think of distressing? Do you use it much?

The other 2 balloons are in Night of Navy and Cherry Cobbler – 2 of the best colors Stampin’ Up! has…also my opinion! 🙂 Oh, and the balloons were made with the Balloon Bouquet punch! Another brilliant punch because cutting out balloons is not easy!

I adhered the balloons first and then drew the “strings” with a Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker. They write so beautifully and smooth! Been using them in my Dad’s Life Album (more on that later),

So, there you have it! A masculine card that was quick and simple in the making…not in the blogging. haha…

Feel free to CASE it (Copy And Share Everything) if you want!

Until the next post…Happy Crafting!

Blessings, June
