Good Afternoon!
Did you all get to see…or somehow see…the eclipse? We ended up going to brunch and the folks at Buffalo Cafe had the CNN on to watch it. Our son went outside and used his cell phone on selfie mode to take a look, but without the right filters, it just looked like the sun. Kinda cool how it got dim outside! I saw one when I was in elementary school through the pin hole technique.
Anyway, had some creative juices flowing this weekend, so I figured I would the cards posted today!
This card began as a sketch and then also became part of a color challenge! I really love it when I can make one card fit into more than one challenge…and it wasn’t an accident! This was on purpose.
Here is the sketch from Try Stampin’ On Tuesday Challenge #335 I debated on flipping it on it’s side or upside down…but in the end, it just seemed to work better this way.
So, for the actual card, I ended up using the Happy Birthday thinlit instead of a shape. Using this thinlit has become my favorite way to make birthday cards!! I have made many…although I think I still have a few to post about. You’ll see this often on my birthday cards! It is so versatile! Good things, since I have so many birthday cards to make! Lots’ of birthdays at this time of year! Are winters cold or something that folks need their snuggle time? **wink, wink**
Here is my card…
The other Challenge that is responsible for inspiration of this card is the CAS (Clean and Simple) Colour & Sketches Challenge #236. When I saw the sketch, I needed a color combo and these colors looked very fun! Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Calypso Coral…not a color combo I would have put together on my own. I am not a huge yellow user. I struggle with it, so it is nice to have a challenge that makes me use a color I am not used to using! It becomes a real challenge!! Haha! Pun intended.
Anyway, obviously baby steps with the Crushed Curry…I used it for the sentiment and around the edges of the Whisper White card stock…it really needed a border! I did the Happy Birthday in the Bermuda Bay, which is one of my favorite colors. And, the base is in the Calypso Coral, another color that I don’t use much! Heck, I only have a few sheets of the paper from combo sets and the marker. I don’t even have the ink pad…yet. Again, orange is kinda like yellow, not a color I think to use often! Although, I have to admit that the Calypso Coral is a really nice orange and I am beginning to think I may need to get the ink and more paper! I am drawn to it more than the Crushed Curry.
I used the Falling Snow embossing folder to add some simple texture. This embossing folder is a favorite of mine as well! You’ll see it on many of my cards. It gives great texture without being over bearing! Oh, and I used the retired Bermuda Bay Baker’s Twine up top. It was the only “ribbon” of sorts that I had in any of the colors. Needs to get used, right?
Overall, I like how this turned out, especially because it isn’t a color combo I would have thought of. That is the exact reason I tend to enjoy the color challenges! What do you think of the card?
I trust you enjoyed the card! If you like any of the supplies, you can hop over to my website to check them out or place your order HERE.
Psst…if you really must have some of the Bermuda Bay baker’s twine, shoot me a comment or email me at junebugcreations29@gmail.com and I will send you some. There is still plenty on the spool to share!
Happy a crafty sort of day!
Blessings, June

Kathie, I think there are eclipses somewhat regularly. Depending on where you live in the world, will determine whether you will see it or not. Luckily, it’s not so far away that you can’t catch the next one. For us in the States, they say it will be 99 years. I’ve now seen 2 in my lifetimes, so I count my blessings. Thank you for your comment! The colors were fun to play with! Blessings, June
