Happy ‘Day after Valentine’s day!’
Do you have a chocolate or sugar hangover today? Not me! I was good! Kept it out of the house, other than what my son brought home from school!
Here’s another Valentine’s Day card I made. This one was for my sister and her family. And another entry for the Pink and Pearls challenge that I missed as well as the Sketch Saturday challenge. Darn it! I gotta get better at getting on the computer after I make these things for challenges!!
Here’s the sketch.
I used the Playful Palette Designer Paper Stack that I have been challenging myself to work my way through. It’s some serious patterns and patterns have always been a struggle for me, mostly for card making, but sometimes even with scrapbooking. I am getting better at it, but this paper stack has really been a challenge for me.
Overall, I like how it turned out! It was my first time using the Jars of Love stamp set. I need to do a lot more playing with that stamp set! I am thinking of taking a stamp set each week and making as many card variations as I can with it. But, that is for another blog post.
I snuck some Rich Razzleberry into this color combo, even though it is not in the paper stack colors. I felt like it needed a dark color and I did not want to use black. The other colors are Blushing Bride, Sweet Sugarplum, Basic Gray, and Very Vanilla.
I did do the distressing on the different papers to ground them or frame them. Not sure what you would call it really. When I use light colored paper I like to edge it in a darker color to show off the edge…then it seems to keep it from just floating into the other papers. Does that make sense?
I added the pearls in a triangle style just because that is what it seemed to need. I also “stamped off” some of the hearts to give it all more colors and shades. The hearts floating out of the jar was a bit of a challenge. I should have done some masking, I think. Like I said earlier…I need to play more with this stamp set…
Enjoy your day and Happy Stampin’!
Blessings, June
