Hello Everybody!
My hubby’s birthday was on Sunday the 12th and I made this card for him! As you saw at Christmas time, he has a lovely mustache…so I really couldn’t pass up on using my friend’s mustache embossing folder! Especially when I needed a pattern paper for this sketch challenge! It’s not a Stampin’ Up one, it’s from Darice, just too dang cute to pass up, though!
Here is the sketch for the challenge that I started with to make this card. It comes from a new challenge blog that I discovered…well, new to me, anyway, called Catch The Bug Challenge Blog.
I chose Dapper Denim as my card base, used the line stamp from Gorgeous Grunge in Dapper Denim ink for the back ground since my “patterned” paper was not overpowering. I used Whisper White to emboss the mustaches on and then used my Black dauber to color the mustaches. Tempting Turquoise is my base for both Whisper White pieces. Instead of ribbon, I chose the Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine and wrapped it around the mustache cardstock instead of the whole card. I also tore the edges versus using a scalloped edge. It seemed more masculine to me. Don’t you agree?
I punched the balloons in Cherry Cobbler and Tempting Turquoise and added the little white marks to help make the balloons look 3D. That was my friend’s idea and she was right! What a huge difference it made! I will have to remember that in the future!!
I edged the white cardstock with my Cherry Cobbler dauber and then hand drew the border in! I really like that border method! I have started using it more! It just finished off that piece perfectly, I think! I also hand drew the strings from the balloons. I need to work on that skill to make them more swirly or curly, I think. Although, it kinda looks like the wind is blowing the balloons to the left, so then the strings would not be so curled. The lines in the background kinda make me think of wind. Hmm…
The sentiment is from another Paper Pumpkin kit called Everything. It was a special, extra stamp set last year in the anniversary box. I find I use stamps from that little set quite often.
That’s about it for this card. He liked it and it suits him, so that is all that matters, right?!
Enjoy your day! Happy stampin’!
Blessings, June

I love the mustache background. And the balloons do look to me like they are blowing in the wind. Thanks for joining the Hiding In My Craft Room Super Saturday Scraps challenge. Beth DT
