June: D’s Stamping Team USA Blog Hop – New Products

Blog-Hop

Hello! Welcome to my first Blog Hop with D’s Stamping Team USA Blog Hop for the month of June (my favorite month, of course!)!! I am so excited to be participating! There are so many wonderful new products in the 2016-2017 Stampin’ Up! Annual catalog…so I just chose a couple of my favorites! I also chose to make a 5×5 square card, something I rarely think of doing.

I made this birthday card for my brother-in-law. I asked him what his favorite colors are and he said blue, black, and red, so I challenged myself to make a card using them! The blue became Dapper Denim (a new In Color). The red became Cherry Cobbler (a deeper red, that I prefer), and the black is Basic Black (that was easy)! I also added some Whisper White for the banner and white embossing powder for the sweet little phrase at the bottom.

I used 5 of the stamps from Timeless Textures for the background using Dapper Denim and Cherry Cobbler inks. I just worked it around the edges and toward the center, since that is where I was going to focus the numbers. The numbers and phrases are from Number of Years stamp set…this one will get tons of use in my house, especially since it has the matching framlits! No more fussy cutting! Sweet!

When I used the white embossing powder, I used the Versa Mark ink pad. I also used a small piece of Dapper Denim Ruched Ribbon to add a flag on the 9. For the black strip in the middle, I cut a 1″ strip and ran it through the center of the Softly Falling embossing folder to give it some more texture. Overall, I am happy with this card! I trust he likes it too!

Thank you for stopping by! Next you will go to Megan Thompson’s blog and see her work of art!
